Reena Davis

yoga + mindfulness

Reena came to yoga and mindfulness as a tool in working through sobriety and depression more than 15 years ago. Since then, she certified through the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in 2011. Having a longtime background in group fitness (certified through the American Counsil of Exercise) as well as being a Certified Mindfulness Teacher, she brings a little bit of everyrhing to class. Believing that all levels can work together she offers strength based yoga with lots of props and modifications in a completely non-competitive atmosphere. Classes are set to music, are a lot of fun and always end with a mindfulness mediation that leaves you relaxed and peaceful.

Damien

bikram yoga

After years of competitive sports and suffering with the resulting injuries, Damien was initially drawn to the healing properties of the practice. Damien now practices more for the mental and emotional stability that comes naturally with a consistent, precise and intense practice.

Damien spends a good portion of his time thinking and talking about bodies, how they move and how when used mindfully with good posture they function optimally. Damien teaches with an effort to bring a calming energy to his classes and hopes to convey that in spite of the series being physical demanding. There is a meditative side that comes with control of the breath and stillness of the mind.

Courtney Parsons

vinyasa yoga

Courtney was introduced to yoga at a young age in the midst of her dancing career. She found yoga at a time where flexibility and strength were an asset to being a competitive dancer. While her practice grew, she noticed the benefits that yoga had on her mental clarity and well being.

Feeling inspired and continuously challenged by her yoga teachers and mentors, Courtney decided to take the next step of completing a 200hr teacher training with Shanti Yoga - where she created a special connection with her teachers. Courtney aims to continue the tradition of her yoga teachers at Shanti by practicing asanas, pranayama and meditation. You will find an assortment of these techniques in her Vinyasa Flow classes at Halifax Movement Collective.
